Jinkosolar gets approval to expand US plant!
Jinkosolar will invest $52 million to expand its only manufacturing plant in the United States, with the city of Jacksonville, Florida, approving a grant for the project.
The Jacksonville Mayor's Budget Review Committee approved a 10-year, $2.3 million grant to JinkoSolar on April 10, which will facilitate construction of the project. Jacksonville's City Council is scheduled to enact legislation for the grant on April 25, 2023.
The grant will cover half of the AD valorem taxes (taxes based on plant appraisals) Jinkosolar will have to pay over 10 years for the plant expansion.
The existing 26,000-square-meter facility at the Cecil Business Center in West Jacksonville first opened in 2018 and employs 274 people. Jinkosolar says the expansion will create another 250 jobs at the site.
