Solar power up 24.7%!
On Nov 15, the National Bureau of Statistics released energy production for October 2022.
In October, the growth rate of thermal power generation slowed down, the decline of hydropower was narrowed, the decline of nuclear power was reversed to increase, and wind and solar power generation maintained rapid growth. Among them, thermal power grew by 3.2% year on year, 2.9 percentage points lower than last month; Water and electricity fell by 17.7%, 12.3 percentage points narrower than the previous month. Nuclear power rose 7.4 per cent, compared with a 2.7 per cent decline in the previous month. Wind power increased 19.2%; Solar power grew 24.7 percent.
Growth of raw coal production slowed down and import growth accelerated. In October, the country produced 370 million tons of raw coal, up 1.2 percent year on year and 11.1 percentage points lower than the previous month, with an average daily output of 11.94 million tons. China imported 29.18 million tons of coal, up 8.3 percent year on year and 7.7 percentage points faster than the previous month.
From January to October, the country produced 3.69 billion tons of raw coal, up by 10.0% year-on-year. China imported 230 million tons of coal, down 10.5 percent year on year.
Crude oil production grew steadily and imports rose from a decline. In October, the country produced 17.22 million tons of crude oil, up 2.5 percent year on year and 1.1 percentage points faster than the previous month, with an average daily output of 556,000 tons. Imports of crude oil were 43.14 million tons, up 14.1 percent year on year, compared with a 1.6 percent decline in the previous month.
From January to October, crude oil production was 170.98 million tons, up by 3.0% year-on-year. Imported crude oil was 413.53 million tons, down 2.7 percent year-on-year.
Crude oil processing growth slowed. In October, 58.62 million tons of crude oil were processed, up 0.8 percent year on year and 1.1 percentage points slower than the previous month, with the average daily processing of 1.891 million tons. From January to October, 555.88 million tons of crude oil was processed, down 4.5% year-on-year.
The growth of natural gas production accelerated, and the decline in imports widened. In October, the country produced 18.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, up 12.3 percent year on year and 7.7 percentage points faster than the previous month, with an average daily output of 60 million cubic meters. The import of natural gas was 7.61 million tons, down 18.9 percent year on year and 15.2 percentage points higher than last month.
From January to October, the country produced 178.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, up by 6.0 percent year-on-year. China imported 88.74 million tons of natural gas, down 10.4 percent year on year.
